Sun Meiting was the First Prize winner of the first Minnesota International
Piano-e-Competition in 2002, and he received his Doctorate of Musical Arts
degree from the Juilliard School, under the tutelage of Robert McDonald. Named
one of the Musicians of the Year 1996 by the Village Voice at age 15, Mr. Sun
has performed in many of world’s great concert halls, including Alice Tully
Hall, where his performance of Ravel's Concerto in G was praised by The New York
Times as "stunningly fluid". Sun Meiting has been featured several times on WQXR
Classical Radio as part of the“Young Artist Showcase”program and on NPR as part
of the“Performance Today”program. He has been heard in recital in much of the
U.S., Japan and China. Recent appearances include a concert tour of Spain, a
concert tour of China, and the opening Gala at the Taubman and Newport
Festivals, and a recital at La Roque d’Anthéron festival in August. Upcoming
engagements in the 2003-2004 season include two concerts in Japan and the grand
opening concert of the new Shanghai Conservatory Hall in September, another
concert tour in China during October, and concerto engagements with the Winnipeg
and Richmond Symphonies and the National Spanish Orchestra.
