¡¡¡¡Meng Bo, formerly known as Shouzeng, is a composer, born in Changzhou, Jiangsu provice. He is one of the founders of Shanghai Spring and used to be editor of ¡®Popular Voice¡¯. Meng Bo joined CCP in 1939 and became Director of Theater of the New Fourth Army later, Supervisor of the Yan¡¯an Lu Art, Director of music archives, and Yan'an Orchestra instructor. After 1949, he acted as Chairman of Tianjin Branch of the China Music Association, Deputy Director of Tianjin Culture Bureau, Director of Guangzhou Culture Bureau, Director General of Shanghai Culture Bureau and Shanghai Movie Bureau, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Federation of Art and Literature, Secretary General of China Music Association, vice minister of Propaganda Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee, Director for 1st and 3rd Music Association of China and Standing Director for the 2nd, Vice President of Shanghai Branch of Music Association. Meng Bo is the creator of Final Sacrifice at Critical Moment, Holding Flag of Revolution and participated in creating the script of ¡®Nie er¡¯ and is the writer of Biography of Maixin. Meng Bo said that spring embodies beauty, renaissance and prosperity and Shanghai Spring is the most appropriate name. That¡¯s the origin of the name, Shanghai Spring International Music Festival (SSIMF).
