He Lvting, formerly known as He Kai, was a musician and educator, born in Shaoyang, Hunan province. He was one of founders of Shanghai Spring. Mr. He was admitted to Shanghai National Music College in 1931. He participated in Farmer Movement and Guangzhou Uprising at his earlier years. He acted as teacher of Wuchang Art School, Director of Music Department of Star Film Company, music teacher of Political Publicity Department, Director of Yan'an Orchestra, Director of Huabei Art Troupe consecutively. In the past fifty years, he created 3 grand choruses, 4 choruses, nearly 100 songs, 6 piano pieces, 6 orchestral pieces, more than 10 movie music and published his selection of music thesis. His songs like The Song of Guerilla, On Jiangling River were popular in home and abroad during Anti-Japanese War and remain masterpieces in concerts and singing events now and still are well received. His piano pieces ‘The Cowherd's Flute’ and ‘cradlesong’ and Orchestral ‘JiDeMa’ are most famous and have been performed many times during SSIMF.
