¡¡¡¡¡¡Huang Yijun, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, is the founder of Shanghai Spring. Music ran in his family and he accepted systemic and strict music education and learned violin and organ from his father and learned harmonica, erhu, Jinghu, dulcimer, piano and even Beijing Opera and Kunqu opera by himself.

¡¡¡¡¡¡He taught in Sunzhou Shangeng primary school at 18 years old and came to Shanghai in the fall of 1934 and became a player for a band of EMI music. In 1935, he studied composing and trumpet in Shanghai national music school and minored in Viola and cello. In 1937, he played for Shanghai municipal orchestra and became its enrolled player in Oct, 1938, one of the four earliest Chinese musicians that joined the orchestra.

¡¡¡¡¡¡After his graduation in 1941, he worked in Shanghai Art Troupe and Guofeng Troupe as composer and conductor. In 1942, he studied composing and conduct from Jeffrey Frankel. In 1946, he became trumpet, horn player for Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. He is one of the earliest composers who engaged in music creation of Chinese movie and drama. In 1948, he was an associate professor for trumpet and orchestra. In 1950, he was conductor of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. He was the one of the first Chinese conductors for Helsinki Symphony Orchestra, Finland and USSR State Symphony Orchestra.

¡¡¡¡¡¡Main works: ¡®Fish Breeding in Fresh Wate¡¯ (winner of ¡°Baihua Award¡±, accompanying music for ¡®Guan Hanqing¡¯ etc. He created orchestral music ¡®Blooming flowers and full moon¡¯ and ¡®¡¯He¡¯ nan numbers¡¯ and made music for ¡®Message with a feather¡¯, ¡®Road angle¡¯ and ¡®Guan hanqing¡¯.
