¡¡¡¡Chen Gang is one of prominent composers in modern China. During earlier years, he studied composing and piano from his farther Chen Gexin and Hungarian pianist Wara. In 1955, he was enrolled by Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and studied composing and theory from President Ding Sahnde and Russian music expert Alza Manof. In early years of his study, he became famous internationally by the violin concerto¡®The Butterfly Lovers¡¯with cooperation of He Zhanhao, which was awarded Gold Records and Platinum Record for five times.
¡¡¡¡Chen Gang is member of CPPCC National Committee, China Music Association, professor of Composing Department in Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He visited US, Canada, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and was listed in among 18 international records such as¡®International Celebrities¡¯and¡®International Music Celebrities¡¯, awarded Honor Certificate of International Culture. He is the author of prose collection¡®Black Romance¡¯and¡®Listen to Music with Three Ears¡¯, etc.
¡¡¡¡In 1959, the violin concerto¡®Butterfly Lovers¡¯was a hit in Shanghai Music and Dance Joint Performance, the predecessor of Shanghai Spring and became a classic works permanently. In 1960, his duet of flute and harp¡®Spring¡¯made its debut. In 1980, when Shanghai Spring was resumed, his¡®Morning in Miao Valley¡¯was put on.
