In the afternoon of Apr. 13, 2015, the press conference of 32nd Shanghai Spring International Music Festival ("SSIMF") will be held in Shanghai Concert Hall. It is reported that, 32nd Shanghai Spring International Music Festival will be held ceremoniously from Apr. 28, 2015 to May 18, 2015 which is hosted by Shanghai Association of Literature and Art Circles and Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group, organized by Shanghai Musician Association, Shanghai Conservatory of Music andShanghaiOrientalBroadcastingCenter.

During music festival, the orchestras, musicians and dancers from more than 10 countries, such as China, USA, Russia, Germany, French, Argentina, and Demark, etc, will bring us 63 colorful performances of music and dance, including Opening Ceremony Concert and Closing Ceremony Concert, 12 repertoires of New Artist and New Works, 12 repertoires of Masters and Noted Orchestras, 10 repertoires of Oversea Special Performances, 7 repertoires of Dance, 20 performances of Demonstration, 4 events of Series Activities, 2 Competitions, 2 Forums, 3 Festivals in SSIMF, 8 Public Art Events.

Opening Ceremony and Performance

32nd Shanghai Spring International Music Festival will be opened ceremoniously at 19:15 PM, Apr. 28, 2015. Performances in Opening Ceremony of 32nd SSIMF will focus on promotion of excellent young artists and new works and display vitality and thriving of music circle inShanghai. The Concert will be divided into two sections. In the first half, Hang Peng and Prism Trio as winner of Best New Artist Prize of 31st SSIMF will be invited for performances. In the second half, young performers will be invited for performance such as Wang Zhijong, Sun Yindi, Luo Xiaoci, etc. under Young Artist Cultivation Plan of 6th Shanghai Literature and Art Prize, which is accompanied by Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra) and conducted by young conductor Zhang Liang. Repertoires of performance include symphonic poem Railway Guerrilla composed by winner of Life-long Achievement Prize in 6th Shanghai Literature and Art Prize, the original piano concerto China Dream reflecting main rhymes of China Dream, etc. The entire concert is magnificent, with both power and delicacy as well as favor of times and connotation of culture, displays main rhythm of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, advocates the goal of diversity and support of new talents, shows the cultural charm of Shanghai as metropolitan and the spacious breast .

Exhibition Performance of New Artist and New Works

Powerful promotion of New Artist and New Works has been tent of SSIMF persistently from its birth. In the Festival, Shanghai Conservatory of Music organizes 12 repertoires by commissioned composing, collection and appraisal, etc, and displays original music compositions and new talents of music representing for highest level ofShanghaicollectively. Patterns of performances cover many fields such as music drama, symphony, orchestra, folk music, vocal music, piano, etc. and repertoires include western classic works as well as national music works with unique characteristics and lasting appeal. During excellent student concerts performed by students of nine professional conservatories of music, presidents of the conservatories will come toShanghai, prepare for establishment of alliance between the 9 conservatories and share the platform of art practice. Furthermore, orchestras and musicians fromUSA,Russia, French,Argentina,Finland,Monaco, Demark, etc will perform 10 repertoires, including the concert of Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra which is the most influential opera house in Europe, Sebelius' 150th Anniversary Celebration Concert performed by Sinfonia Lahti Symphony Orchestra which is one of most famous orchestras inNorth Europe. There is not only most accident children's chorus, but also concert of world-famous chorus Copenhagen ARS NOVA as well as recital of American mezzo-soprannos Joyce DiDonato, which enrich international elements of performances in Shanghai and display the spacious breast and compatibility of Shanghai culture sufficiently.

Performance of Excellent Dances

There are more than 10 repertoires of dance to be performed in the SSIMF, characterized by artistry, appreciation and vanguard. Wherein, Dance Drama "Crested Ibises" performed by Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe, Original Dance Drama "The Shadow in the Moon"performed by Shanghai Opera House and "Music and Image " — Dialogue between Cello and Ballet performed by Shanghai Ballet; Shanghai New Dancer New Works Exhibition Performance for bi-annual inspection of chorography in Shanghai      

is open to non-employee dancers for the first time. Dancing Children Heart in China Dream — Children Dance is performed additionally to display local original choreography works in the two years at comprehensive angles. Tibetan Dance Origin, promoted in 7thShanghai Dance Experience Theatre, will be performed in the SSIMF and lead audiences with dance to experience rich folk custom and simple inner world of Tibetan people. Furthermore, in the plate of Oversea Performance, dance troupes fromPortugalandBelorussiawill perform wonderful repertoires respectively with addition to the performance of Sino-French ballet exchange.

Festivals in SSIMF and Public Art Events

The plate of Public Art Events in SSIMF includes Festivals in SSIMF, special music and dance performances, appraisal and selection of campus songs, and concerts, etc. As a part of Festivals in SSIMF, 2015 Wind Music Art Festival will further enrich connotation of events in Wind Music Art Festival, display culture of people's livelihood to enable more residents in Shanghai to participate in festive activities of 2015 Wind Music Art Festival, meet their increasing demand of people on elegant art and underline the spirit of the Festival to share gladness with people and held the Festival thriftily. 2015 Wind Music Art Festival is expected to be held from Apr. 29, 2015 to May 3, 2015 temporarily, divided into 4 plates, Opening Ceremony and Wind Music Evening Party, Wind Music Carnivals, Special Performance of Wind Music and Closing Ceremony, Performance of Amateur Excellent Wind Band (Marches and symphony). About 4~6 excellent wind bands from Europe, America and Asia and China PLA Military Band, China PLA Military Band, China Navy Band, excellent domestic marching wind bands and characteristic marching wind bands will be invited to perform in Oriental Pearl Radio and TV Tower, Century Square, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, Fudan Zhengda Gymnasium and relevant parks, communities, special parks, commercial regions and camps; The second part of Festivals in SSIMF is Chorus Art Week in 32nd SSIMF, more than 20 chorus will be invited for performance, such as Czech Boys Choir, Taiwan Sirens Chrous, Hongkong Yipu Cappella Chrous, Wuxi Sanhe Chrous, Shanghai Local Chrous, so as to promote the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign choruses. Main events of Chorus Art Week include Performances in Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony, Performance in Grass-roots and Communalities, International Chorus Forum, Maestro Class, Excellent Foreign and Chinese Chorus Concert, Performance of Foreign and Chinese Choruses inSurroundingProvincesand Cities, etc. The third part of Festivals in SSIMF is Music Open Week of Shanghai Conservatory of Music for a week from May 10, 2015 to May 16, 2015, and a series of performances will be masterminded in Huo Lvting Concert Hall, Small Concert Hall, Report Hall of North Building,RehearsalCenter. All concerts, lectures and rehearsals, etc will be open to public and tickets can be bought or presented. Gate of the Conservatory is open to citizens inShanghaithen so as to display the service function of universities for society and make contribution to the construction of culture inShanghai.    

Competitions and Forum

In the music concert, 32nd SSIMF Campus Song Collection and Appraisal, and SSIMF Music Individual Competition and 10th Golden Bell Prize Shanghai Selection Competition will be held. Hosted by Shanghai Musician Association and Shanghai Science and Art Education Center, 32nd SSIMF Campus Song Collection and Appraisal will collect campus songs from society, which are of striking characteristics of times and popular to juvenile students, and can display the cultural pursuit of juvenile students oriented to truth, kindness, beauty and ambition as well as the harmonious and vigorous environment of campus.

SSIMF Music Individual Competition and 10th Golden Bell Prize Shanghai Selection Competition will be held in May, 2015 during 32nd SSIMF, covering six fields, Vocal Music, Violin, Erhu, String Music, Accordion and Electronic Organ. Young performers with excellent performance will be submitted for national review and appraisal.

SSIMF Musical Drama Development Forum has been held inShanghaifor successive 3 years. On May 9, 2015, noted producers of musical drama, representatives of musical theaters, operators of tour performance and musician, experts and scholars of musical drama will come from United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Austria, China Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and gather in Shanghai Culture Square, discuss musical drama at angles of its introduction, development concept, content of creation, operation pattern, education of talent, tendency of market, deliberate on development of domestic musical drama with insightful and international view; As one of events in memory of Erhu master Hu Huifen, First China National Music Development Forum will be held in Shanghai Concert Hall on Apr. 30, 2015.

Closing Ceremony and Performance

32nd SSIMF will be closed in the evening of May 18, 2015. Closing Ceremony Concert will be held inShanghaiOrientalArtCenterat 19:15 PM. After simple and solemn Closing Ceremony, Germany Bamberger Symphony Orchestra (Bamberger Symphoniker) will perform a new and grandiose symphony concert.  

Germany Bamberger Symphony Orchestra is one of most excellent orchestras internationally, with title of Bavarian State Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2000, British conductor Jonathan Nott has been Chief Conductor of the Orchestra. Jonathan Nott is 50 years old now and is one of most active conductors in contemporary international music circle. He is an outstanding conductor among those born in 1960's. What is rare is that he is British conductor rooted in music soil ofGermany. Under his leadership, Germany Bamberger Symphony Orchestra has been awarded international recording prizes many times.       

Invited by Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Germany Bamberger Symphony Orchestra will perform Mukamu Impressioncomposed by Yang Liqing in Closing Ceremony of 32nd Shanghai Spring International Music Festival. In addition, noted singer Liao Changyong will perform the extract of Let Busy Man Pass Quickly from opera Barber of Seville. Collection of Masters and noted orchestras and assortment of Chinese and foreign repertoires in the Concert are worthy of more expectation.
