Miao farmer choir performs famous Western music
As members of the choir living in mountains, they wear homespun and sandals made by themselves, singing Handel's "Messiah"! It is Xiaoshuijing Miao Farmers Choir in Fumin, Yunnan of which the members entirely lives in the same village composed of Miao farmers. Invited by SSIMF, xiaoshuijing Miao choir will give "Chinese Memory ¡¤ Yunnan wonderful soundtrack - xiaoshuijing Miao Choir Concert¡± at the Shanghai Concert Hall tomorrow. 45 farmers from xiaoshuijing village then will sing Handel's "Hallelujah", "Worthy Is the Lamb That Was slain" and Schumann's "Tzigane" and other songs on stage. Owing to the remoteness, today they perfectly keep western choir tradition taught by western missionaries a century ago, and they can perform the music of Handel, Schumann and other Western music composers in several voice parts. Central Conservatory of Music, National Theater and other art institutions have paid high attention to artistic and academic value of xiaoshuijing Choir. Because of xiaoshuijing choir, xiaoshuijing village was also awarded ¡°ethnic characteristic village in Yunnan" by Yunnan government.
There also retained a large number of different forms of original ecological sound except xiaoshuijing Miao choir, which has been continuously excavated in recent years. Among them, Haicai Qiang sung by Li Huaixiu, Li Huaifu and "ASE Tune" sung by Chuxiong Aguailao Yi chorus are the most significant representatives of all. In the first half of the concert, the singers such as Li Huaixiu, Li Huaifu, Da Po Ma Ji, little A Peng who won "original" award in CCTV "National Young Singers' Competition" will come onto the stage with a comprehensive perform of various original music styles in Yunnan.
