"Shanghai echo "opening Shanghai Chinese Orchestra's new performance season

In the words of Wang Fujian, member of Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, "Chinese Orchestra is to keep a ancient schedule that sow seeds in spring and rest after New Year." Therefore, the orchestra's opening season avoids usual time (September) of various concert halls, theaters and symphonies. On the evening of May 17th, Shanghai Chinese Orchestra will perform the large nationality concert "Shanghai echo ¢̣"at the Shanghai Culture Square, raising the curtain of the orchestra's 2013-2014 performance season "Da Ya Guo Feng". The movement of inclusiveness with old tune and new rhyme presents the unique Shanghai culture heritage and contemporary urban culture appearance. The performance is also the participating concert in "Shanghai Spring" International Music Festival, which Wang Fujian conducts then.

The concert will begin with the folk orchestra "Blue Fantasy" Created by Gu Guanren "Centennial Capriccio" and "Sing Shanghai with chord" based on Shanghai opera and Pingtan opera  present strong Shanghai feelings; "Time has traces" filled with nostalgic charm and "urban rhythm" with modern urban style show the old Shanghai customs and the new Shanghai vitality; folk orchestra "River"shows self-confidence of Shanghai urban culture with the grandness like"rolling Yangtze River flowing eastward".

The performance season this year is named "Da Ya Guo Feng" and there would launched a lyrical summer Concert "Red flowers in green leaf", a classical concert "listening "showing tradition's charm and representatives of contemporary folk music" Tang Jianping music concert " except the opening concert "Shanghai echo". Conductor Chen Xieyang and Zhang Lie are also invited to participate in this performance season, serving as concert conductor. Pipa performer Zhang Qiang, erhu performer Yu Hongmei, bamboo flute performer Tang Junqiao, zurna performer Guo Ya Zhi will also be invited in the "famous song" concert and the four top domestic performers will present four classic concertos for folk music lovers. In addition, the Dragon Boat Festival Concert "Nine Songs Divine Comedy", "Tanabata" Valentine's Day Concert "drunk in forever love," Mid-Autumn Festival Concert "Brightening the Whole of Heaven" ,New Year Concert "happy and auspicious Chinese New Year" and other concerts combined with traditional theme music are highlights in this year's performance season.
