As the act program in international festival of Shanghai Spring of 2013, Kuanhong Chen, the local excellent overseas Chinese pianist, will perform “Bechstein , the piano legend of 160 years-the master Kuanhong Chen’s recital concert” in Shanghai Oriental Art Center in May,13th. On that night, he will perform Liszt’s piano Sonata in B minor and Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard De la nuit with Bechstein D282.

As for Bechstein piano, Liszt, called Erl king of piano, has ever had great esteem for Bechstein piano. Because the materials and technology for making piano is backward in that time, Liszt, famous for his strength and speed, always met awkward that the piano string snapped when he performed on piano. Then young Carl Bechstein made the piano which can afford his arm strength and technology with high difficulty. 

Kuanhong Chen also has affection for Bechstein piano to play music. However, several years ago, his right hand has ever harmed seriously and forced to stop playing music on piano. Later on, he studied and learned Qigong and Zen with great concentration, feeling the smallest change between fingers with quite body and mind. Two years later, the right hand of Kuanhong Chen completely recovered miraculously.    

In the performance of two works from Liszt and Ravel this time, the audience perhaps can feel the strong mental strength and Zen of Kuanhong Chen .
