NarratingChinese Stories with Symphonies, the 35thSSIMF Is Unveiled

　　“Post-40s”composer Lu Zaiyi,“post-60s”composer Xu Shuya and “post-90s”composer Gong Tianpeng turn on metronome on the stage of Concert Hall of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and announce the inauguration of the 35thSSIMF. The most excellent masterpieces of Lu Zaiyi in his composing career will be performed in his special concert, and Gong Tianpeng will launch his tenth symphony Beijing Opera Fantasy. Xu Shuya will act as Art Director of opening performance Chinese Creation Myths’Original Masterpieces Concert (New Dream on Sea XII), and lead seven world-famous composers to retrospect Chinese creation myths together, and narrate Chinese stories with symphonies.

　　In the opening performance Chinese Creation Myths’Original Masterpieces Concert (New Dream on Sea XII), eight composers used the world language of symphony to tell eight Chinese creation myth stories including God Pangu Creates the Heaven and the Earth, Giant Kuafu Chases the Sun,“Silly”Old Man Moves the Mountain, Fairy Bird Jingwei Fills the Sea, Cowherd and Weaver Girl, Goddess Chang’e Flies to the Moon, God Linlun Creates Tonalityand The Tripod of the Countryrespectively. These composers are Shanghai native musicians Xu Shuya, Xu Mengdong, Ye Guohui, Zhou Xianglin and Chen Musheng, Beijing and Tianjin musicians Qing Wenchen and Xu Changjun, and Chinese-Austria composer Huang Ailin. Xu Shuya said:”in order to reflect the inclusivenessof Shanghai, we invited three non-native composers, they are leading talents of the industry. Although they interpreted same themeof Chinese creation myths, everyone used different compilation methods, and displayed surprisingdiversified styles.

　　Chinese Creation Myths’Original Masterpieces Concert started the splendid SSIMF for 21 days. 37 music and dance performances, three festivals in SSIMF, one forum, one collection activity and four Art Teaching Achievements Exhibition Weeks will be held successively. In addition, a series of theme performances will be held to enable audiences to meet artists face to face in Shanghai, such as “Music into Subway”,“Music into CommercialArea”,“Music into School”and “Music into Military Camps”
