　　The past century has witnessed the continuous exploration and innovation of Chinese art songs in the course of its historical inheritance, fully revealing the unique connotation of traditional and contemporary Chinese culture. Meanwhile, from the perspective of cultural communication and integration, Chinese art song is also one of the best carriers of Chinese style and Chinese civilization. Professor Liao Changyong has successfully held Chinese art song-themed concerts for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018, which became a big hit among the public and in the music circle.

　　In November 2018, Mr. Liao Changyong, a well-known singer reputed as “the Best Baritone in Asia”and the president of the SHCM, initiated the 1stChinese Art Song International Vocal Music Contest, which turned out to be a great success. This competition is finally kept as a regular event of the SHCM and will be held every two years in the future.

　　At the 2019 Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, Professor Liao Changyong and pianist Sun Yingdi, together with the winners of the 1st Chinese Art Song International Vocal Music Contest, will present an extremely wonderful Chinese art song concert to the audience, aiming at promoting the exchange and communication of Chinese art songs through such high-level competitions and concerts, and increasing the presence of genuine Chinese art songs on the international stage.
