　　Lin Haimin is noted novelist originally, and learned dance in his study in USA. He establishedCloud Gate Dance in 1973, DanceDepartmentof Art University (the Taibei Art University now) in 1983, and Cloud Gate2 in 1999.

　　Lin Haiminoften obtains inspiration for traditional Asia culture and aesthetics, creates dances with contemporaryaware. He is a respected choreographerworldwide.

　　In 2013, he received American Dance Festival Award for Lifetime Achievementwith honor of "Nobel Price for Modern Dance". Previous awardees include Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Pina Bausch, and William Forsythe. In the same year, Lin was invited by UNESCO's International Theatreto give speechin International Dance Day.

　　Lin Haimin also received honors, such as honorary doctorates from six universities in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Philippines Macquarie Prize, the John D. 　　Cloud Gate is the name of the oldest dance in Chinaaccording to records of ancient books, reportedto stem from Yellow Emperor Era. In 1973, Lin Haimin established CLOUD GATE DANCE, which is the first professional dance in Taiwan and the s the first contemporarydance in Chinese-speakingsociety. There are plentiful fine dances of Cloud Gate, which are performed repeatedly for popularity, and become joint momory of Taiwanneses for two or three generations.
