　　Founded and managed by Shanghai Workers’ Culture Palace,Shanghai Jasmine Jiangnan String & Bamboo Band, with a history of 69 years, is an art platform for workers and masses to study and inherit traditional cultures and to promote their patriotism. Many well-known string & bamboo music and folk music experts,such as Mr. Wei Zhongle, Mr. Lu Chunling, Mr. Lu Dehua, Mr. Gong Wanli, Mr. Yu Xunfa, etc. have guided this band.Presently, the core team, consistingof over 20 elites from Shanghai Chinese Orchestra of Jasmine Art Troupe, concentrates on academic research, study, performance and accumulationof music scores, laying emphasis on both heritage and development. Trip to HuangPu River, Rhyme of Huangpu River, Fantasia of Guanshan, Farewell to My Concubine, Dragon and Phoenix Bringing Prosperity,etc. are their new representative works."Charm of Jasmine" concerts and lectures are often held in enterprises, mining areas, schools and communities to promote the Jiangnan String & Bamboo music and make contribution to carrying forward exquisite folk culture. In 2017, Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center awarded the band Excellent Heritage Base of Jiangnan String and Bamboo Music.

　　Shanghai Jiangnan String & Bamboo Band is established by Shanghai Mass Art Center (Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center), is another practical measure for protection of Jiangnan string & wood music. It has obtained strong support, care and guidance of Shanghai MusiciansAssociation, Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association and many experts. It has been reported by over 10 media outlets including Shanghai Television Station, Jiefang Daily and Xinmin Evening News. The members of the band are mainly composed of young talents graduating from professional schools,such as Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Central Conservatory of Music. The band specially retained Mr. Cheng Haihua, the representative inheritor of Shanghai Jiangnan String & Bamboo Project, and Professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music as artistic director. With the aim of inheriting and promoting Jiangnan String & Bamboo music, the band endeavors to be a new generation of folk music performance group, which caninterpret all kinds of string and bamboo music,and inherit and develop Chinese national music, carry out foreign exchanges and cooperation. The band will be rooted in the fertile soil of Jiangnan culture and face global music stage. It will display colorful artistic practice and various forms of performances, and bringpeople an artistic enjoyment full of Jiangnan charm.
