Lina ZERÓN has a degree in International Relations at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Master in Transnational Enterprises.

She is a poet, narrator, journalist, publisher and cultural promoter. Lina Zeron is a mexican woman highlighted by its sociocultural work. She has been honored nationally and internationally for her work as a writer, editor and cultural promoter, activities in which has excelled both on account of its literary and its solidarity with writers, and groups of these, originating in different latitudes (either recognized or well that enjoy little promotion), who propel in literary meetings and those who disseminates in bodies and the mass media or, generously, supported with the publication of their debut or with the reissued of their books. Her solidarity is also recognized in their commitment to the Mexican society. She teaches poetry workshops and tell stories to the children of the indigenous communities since 2000.

Similarly, Lina Zeron has been distinguished by its incursion, through their literary texts, on issues of peace and women's rights. In addition, her talent as a writer and cultural promoter have earned her awards as the academic title of "Honorary professor of Graduate School" and Doctor Honoris Causa by the University "Daniel Alcides Carrión" of Peru (granted in 2009 and 2010, respectively); the Doctorate Honoris Causa from the University of Tumbes, also in Peru (with which he was recognized in 2007), and its integration as Vocal Academy extension and dissemination of culture in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, FES Zaragoza, of the UNAM. In addition, her poem "A Great Country" -worthy, by their universal significance, the Trophy-recognition on the part of the Andean Parliament - is included in the textbook course on literature and Spanish language, which is distributed in schools in Nicaragua since 2006. The poetry of this woman has been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Catalan, Portuguese, Serbian, Russian, Slovenian, Italian, Arabian, Romanian, Dutch, Mongolian, Hebrow, and Persian.

Her work can be found in books edited antologied in several countries. She has published poems, stories and newspaper articles in magazines and cultural supplements not only from different Mexican entities, but also in many contries.

As an author she has published more than 20 books of poetry and narrative.

Samanta Schweblin was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. Her first book, El núcleo del Disturbio (Planeta 2002) was awarded first prize by the National Fund for the Arts and the Harold Conti National Competition. In 2008, she won the Casa de las Américas prize for her short story collection Pájaros en la boca (Planeta 2009), which has been translated into eleven languages and published in more than twenty countries. Schweblin has received writing fellowships from Mexico’s Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA); the Civitalla Ranieri de Umbria, Italy; and the Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD in Berlin, where lives. In 2011, she was included as one of Granta Magazine’s Best of Young Spanish Language Novelists, and in 2012 she received the Juan Rulfo Award for her short story “Un hombre sin suerte.”

Alan Carter is the author of PRIME CUT (Fremantle Press Feb 2011) his debut novel. It won the prestigious Ned Kelly Crimewriting Award in 2011 in the category of Best First Fiction, was shortlisted for the Crime Writers Association Debut Dagger award in 2010 and has been selected by the Australia Council GET READING program for the list of 50 Books You Can’t Put Down 2011.

In his “day job” Alan Carter has been making TV documentaries since 1986 and his Fremantle-based production company, Alley Kat Productions, has been producing quality and innovative documentary programming for local and international markets since its establishment in 1995. From 1997 – 2000 Alan also acted as Executive Producer for the ABC on independently-produced documentaries in WA. Alan’s individual Producer/Director credits.

Alan Carter has also worked as CEO of Film & Television Institute in Fremantle, State Director of Oxfam, a taxman, a labourer in a chemical factory, and a shelf-stocker in a supermarket.

Anjali Joseph was born in Bombay. She read English at Trinity College, Cambridge, and has taught English at the Sorbonne, and written for the Times of India in Bombay. She was commissioning editor of ELLE India. Saraswati Park, her first novel, was published in 2010. It won the Betty Trask Prize and the Desmond Elliott Prize, and was joint winner of India’s Vodafone Crossword Book Award for Fiction, as well as being shortlisted for the Commonwealth Prize for Best First Book, the Ondaatje Prize, and the Hindu Literary Prize. Another Country, her second novel, was published in 2012 and was longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize.

Denyse Woods, who also writes as Denyse Devlin, was born in Boston in 1958 and is the daughter of an Irish diplomat. She studied Arabic and English at University College, Dublin, and subsequently worked in Iraq. She has travelled extensively in the Middle East, and also lived in the USA, Belgium, Australia, Italy and the UK before settling in Cork with her husband and their two daughters. Denyse has published five novels including the critically acclaimed Overnight to Innsbruck (Lilliput Press, 2002), the best-selling The Catalpa Tree (Penguin Ireland, 2004), Like Nowhere Else (Penguin Ireland, 2005) and Hopscotch (Penguin Ireland, 2006). Her most recent novel is If Not Now (Penguin Ireland, 2008). She is a winner of The Irish Times short story award.

Germain Droogenbroodt, was born in Rollegem, the Flemish part of Belgium, where Dutch is one of the official languages. In 1987 he moved to the Mediterranean artist village of Altea and integrated in Spanish literary life.

Germain Droogenbroodtis an internationally appreciated poet, translator, publisher and promoter of modern international poetry. So far he wrote nine poetry books and translated – he speaks six languages - more than thirty collections of German, Italian, Spanish, English and French poetry, including anthologies of Bertolt Brecht, Reiner Kunze, Peter Huchel, Miguel Hernández, José Ángel Valente, Francisco Brines and Juan Gil-Albert and rendered Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Persian and Korean poetry into Dutch.

As founder and editor of POINT Editions (POetry INTernational) he has published more than eighty collections of mainly modern, international poetry. In 1996 he set up a new poetic movement, called neo-sensacionismo with the famous Chinese poets Bei Dao and Duo Duo

Germain Droogenbroodtorganised and co-organised several international poetry festivals in Spain. He has been advising poets for the Festival Internacional de Poesía de Granada, Nicaragua and of the Struga Poetry Evenings, Europe’s oldest and most famous international poetry festival. He was “special collaborator” of the International Festival de Poesía de Rosario, Argentina and General Secretary of the WAAC (World Academy of Arts & Culture) and the World Congress of Poets,  as well as and founder and president of the Cultural Foundation ITHACA Droogenbroodt-Leroy of the Valencia Country and reviewing editor of “Contemporary Poetry”, the oldest Chinese poetry magazine in Hong Kong and of The Poetic Bridge, a Japanese-English poetry publication.

His poetic oeuvre is many-sided. After his début with “Forty at the wall” (1984), defined as neo-romantic poetry, he published “Do you know the country?”, Meditations at Lake Como (Italy), a collection of nature poems. In 1995 he was awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship (Scotland) where he wrote “Conversation with the hereafter”, poems about death, awarded with the P.G. Buckinx-Prize and “Palpable absence”, a bilingual (Dutch-Spanish) collection of love poems. A critic of the Dutch Information Office for Libraries described his love poems as “virtuoso poetry”. At the end of 1997 appeared “Twenty-five and two love poems”, and in 1998 “Between the silence of your lips”, his collected love poems.

During his sojourn at the Palace-Fortress “Neemrana” in Rajasthan he completed the poetry cycle “The Road”, (read TAO) a poetic bridge between the East and the West, inspiring the Flemish artist Frans Minnaert and the Indian painter Satish Gupta, who enriched “The Road” with their drawings. This rather philosophical, mystical poetry is so far his most popular book, published already in 18 languages in 22 countries, translated by such famous poets as Bei Dao (Chinese), Fuad Rifka (Arabic), Jana Stroblova and Josef Hruby (Czech), Milan Richter (Slovak), Emilio Coco (Italian), Ganga Prasad Vimal (Hindi), Mongolian etc.  In 2001 he wrote in Spanish “Amanece el cantor” (The Singer  Awakes), a homage to the deceased poet José Ángel Valente, followed by “Counterlight” written in Ronda (Southern Spain) in 2002. This book has been published in Spain by Calima Ediciones, in Romania by ex Ponto, in Belgium by POINT Editions, in both Mongolian languages by GCompress Co., Ltd. Ulaanbaatar, in Arab by Albayat (Morocco), in Hong Kong by “Contemporary Poetry”, and in Taiwan by Poet Culture. Corp. The latter publication includes also “Counterlight “.

He latest poetry book “In the Stream of Time”, Meditations in the Himalayas, was published in 2008 in Belgium and as part of “Selected Poems by Germain Droogenbroodt”, 2008 in Shanghai and in Spain, laureate of the XXIX Premio de Poesía Juan Alcaide 2008. Struga Poetry Evenings published a selection of his poetry in their “Pleiades” in 2010. “In the Stream of Time, selected poetry of Germain Droogenbroodt has been translated in Japanese and was launched at the Kyoto City International Foundation in Kyoto, Japan in 2010 and in Gaelic (Irish) in 2012. A selection of his poems have been published as well in Bangla in Bangladesh (2012)

Germain Droogenbroodtis frequently invited to give recitals and conferences at universities and international poetry festivals all over the globe. He has been honoured with a Doctor of Literature, h.c. in Egypt in 1990 and awarded several prizes. In addition to the publication of international poetry he also has an internationally well visited website: http://www.point-editions.comin English, Spanish and Dutch with articles in Arab and Chinese, bimonthly updated, publishing modern poetry from over 70 countries, as well as information on book fairs and international poetry festivals. The site has so far been visited over 100.000 times. 

João Tordo was born in Lisbon in 1975.  He read Philosophy and studied Journalism and Creative Writing in London and New York.  In 2001 he was the recipient of the New Authors Prize. He has published six novels: O Livro dos Homens Sem Luz(2004); Hotel Memória (2007); As Três Vidas (2008), winner of the José Saramago Literary Prize and shortlisted for the Portugal Telecom Prize in Brazil; O Bom Inverno (2010), shortlisted for the best Fiction Novel of the Portuguese Author's Society and the Fernando Namora Literary Prize; the french translation, published by Actes Sud, was nominated for the European Literary Award; Anatomia dos Mártires (2011), again shortlisted for the Fernando Namora Literary Prize.  His novels are translated in seven countries, including France, Italy and Brasil.  He also works as a columnist, translator, screenwriter and regularly teaches workshops of Fiction.

Víctor Rodríguez Núñez (Havana, Cuba, 1955) is a poet, journalist, literary critic, translator, and scholar. Collections of his poems appear throughout Latin America and Europe, and he has been the recipient of major awards all over the world.  He has read his poetry at leading international literary festivals in more than twenty countries. In the last several years, Rodríguez Núñez has begun to develop an enthusiastic audience in the English-speaking world as translations of his work have appeared in prominent American and British journals.  A wide selection of his poems has also been translated into Arabic, Dutch, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Portuguese, Serbian, Slovenian, and Russian. His poetry has received numerous accolades, including the David Prize (Cuba, 1980), the Plural Prize (Mexico, 1983), the EDUCA Prize (Costa Rica, 1995), the Renacimiento Prize (Spain, 2000), the Fray Luis de León Prize (Spain 2005), the Leonor Prize (Spain 2006), the Rincón de la Victoria Prize (Spain 2010) and the Jaime Gil de Biedma Prize (Spain 2011). In the eighties, he was the editor of El Caimán Barbudo, one of Cuba’s leading cultural magazines. He has compiled three anthologies that define his poetic generation, and published various critical editions, introductions, and essays on Spanish American poets. Among his translations are books by John Kinsella, Margaret Randall, and Mark Strand. He divides his time between Gambier, Ohio, where he is currently Professor of Spanish at Kenyon College, and Havana, Cuba.

Zainabu Jallo, In 2007 Zainabu was nominated by the Royal Court Theatre London, British Council and Ford Foundation Nigeria to join nine other young Nigerians to begin a 'New Writing from Nigeria project'.

In 2008 she was nominated by the same bodies to expect a summer writing residency at the Royal Court Theatre in London.

In 2009, she was given a fellowship for a three-month residency at The Global Arts Village, New Delhi, India Where She had readings of some of her work. Onions Make Us Cry, got her second play published in 2008

Onions Make Us Cry 2010 had a reading at the Contacting The World International Forum. In the same period it was nominated for the 2010 NLNG Literature prize.

    Onions Make Us Cry was read at the international festival of new plays in March 2011 at the LARK in New York.  In November 2011, Onions make us Cry was Announced as one of the six winning plays of the National Studio London, Africa Project. Zainabu is one of the playwrights whose work was featured at the 9 th International Women Playwrights Conference in Sweden, August 2012. Zainabu, A Sundance Theatre Fellow, has been recently at the Sundance Theatre Lab in 2012 as writer in residency as well as the 2012 Chateau Lavigny, Ledig House Writers Foundation-Rowohlt   residency Laussane, Switzerland.

Her new play opens the HOLY NIGHT lagos arts festival in November 2012
